Lori is a 1975 graduate of the University of Minnesota and a 1979 graduate magna cum laude of William Mitchell College of Law, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the William Mitchell Law Review. She joined the international law firm of Dorsey & Whitney in 1980, following a clerkship with Federal District Judge Earl R. Larson. She is admitted to the Minnesota Bar.
In 1985, Lori left private practice and joined United HealthCare Corporation (health care), rising to the General Counsel & Secretary position in two short years. At United HealthCare, Lori was responsible for all legal affairs and for managing the legal staff and a contract development group, with a staff of sixteen professionals and eight support staff.
In 1992, Lori took the position of Vice President and General Counsel at the publicly-held company, MGI PHARMA, INC. (pharmaceuticals). Before she left MGI to start Gille Law PLLC in 1999, Lori had become Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, responsible for legal, regulatory, human resources, information systems, facilities planning and management, and administrative areas of the company, as well as for the international business affairs of the company.
Lori's primary areas of practice have encompassed all areas of corporate and business law, having represented publicly-held and private companies (both large and small), in a wide range of areas, including mergers and acquisitions, business partnerships, international business negotiations, shareholder disputes and board of director matters, human resource advice and business formation. She has served as Corporate Secretary for two publicly-held companies. She has represented small and large companies in a wide area of business areas, including negotiating a wide variety of business partnerships and joint ventures.
Today, Lori's primary clients are medical device and pharmaceutical companies.
